Our first guest talking about the History of Bikes is James Longhurst, a historian of urban and environmental policy, and the author of Bike Battles: A History of Sharing the American Road (2015). He is an associate professor at the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse, with a Ph.D. in history and policy from Carnegie Mellon University. James and the Bike Nerds discuss the recent wave of academic inquiry analyzing the ways that bicycles played a role in shaping policies that define the built urban landscape today.
