Our second guest talking about the History of Bikes is Evan Friss, an Assistant Professor of History at James Madison University and the author of The Cycling City: Bicycles and Urban America in the 1890s (2015). Evan holds a Ph.D. in History from the Graduate Center, City University of New York and an M.A. in History and a Certificate in Archival Management from New York University. Evan and the Bike Nerds discuss the rise and fall of bicycles at the turn of the 20th century, the legacy of bike advocacy created during that time, and the ways in which today’s advocates are facing similar struggles to our urban ancestors.
